Sid Simpson Biography
Sid is a member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, the Rio Grande Artist Association, and the American Society of Botanical Artists. He is a retired biologist and has, with his wife Nan, provided natural history and art programs for the New Mexico State Parks and the Petroglyph National Monument.
He has studied botanical drawing and illustration at the Chicago Botanic Garden and with June Hill Pedigo in Chicago. He has studied watercolor and egg tempera with Jeremiah Patterson and Fred Wessel in several workshops in Italy. He has also studied with several of Albuquerque's leading watercolorists.
Sid's paintings have been exhibited in juried shows in New Mexico, inlcuding the Spring and Fall exhibits of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, Expo New Mexico, the Art Center at Fuller Lodge (Los Alamos), and the 2008 Western Federation of Watercolor Societies in Tucson, AZ.
He is primarily an abstract artist, working in a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic, oil, casein, and mixed media.
